Mary Byrne

Singer and X-Factor Finalist

Byrne’s story is the stuff of fairytales: since auditioning for The X-Factor at the age of 50, she went from working as a Tesco checkout assistant to uncovering a newfound fame. Although she got knocked out in the semi-final of the TV talent show, Byrne won the hearts of millions with her warm personality and powerhouse voice. Byrne was mentored on the show by Louis Walsh and her fellow finalists included One Direction and Matt Cardle. Since her appearance on the show, Byrne has performed for Queen Elizabeth II on her historic State visit to Ireland in 2011 and shared the stage with Neil Diamond to perform for over 55,000 fans at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
